I have two WA730RE v2 separated by approx' 60m (200ft) using TL-ANT2409A Directional Antennas. The one physically connected to my home network is configured as an access point, the other (at a remote building) as a repeater (range extender). Both have static IPs, WPA/WPA2 (Personal), all other settings Auto.

The signal strength (measured using the admin panel remote RSSI) is stable at 15-18dB (depending on weather conditions). Throughput is pretty reliable at a few Mb/s.

The problem is the data rate drops to zero for 11 seconds every 72 seconds, regardless of the data rate across the link. This repeats absolutely reliably every 72 seconds!
Ive attached a couple of ping graphs to show the problem:

Both devices have the latest public firmware (3.16.6 Build 130510 Rel.63318n).

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Kevin.

WA730RE v2 for outdoor link will never work,
solution add a 7210 or a 5210 to AP side

Why do you say that? Using omnidirectional or directional antennas should have no influence over the function of the link. In every other respect the link works perfectly.

If as you post on #1 & #3 the link works perfectly with data rate drops to zero for 11 seconds every 72 seconds, why bother.

Apart from only 85% availability being frustrating, one use of the link is for a surveillance camera; thats a lot of holes in the video!

Im still interested to know why you think the 730RE is not appropriate for this application? Ill see if I can get a response from the Tech Support people ...
