Hi All,

I really do not understand Router and ADSL2+ setting very much so I apologize in advance for what is probably (to most) a very basic/silly settings questions but are important for me to know.

Internet Settings.

I used the wizard to set up my router which 2 PCs are cable connected to it (not using wireless mode) (home based set-up)

My PVC used is PVC1 (no idea why not PVC0 (as most user seem to have allocated to them).

In STATUS> Device Info. All the PVC settings I see are:

NOTE: The VP!/VCI setting of 0/33 in PVC1 were advised by my ISP together with username and password

I am assuming PVC0 is showing down because there is no Username, password etc. allocated to it. but it was left Active (not deactivated) after wizard setup (over a year ago).

I have noted that with PVC0 active (my default after wizard set up - I changed nothing) the System log shows continuous rolling entries of "call failed"
I experimented and Deactivated PVC0 and following that I got a ONCE-OFF 2 new log entries of

Following that I am NOW getting NO "call failed" entries (in fact I am not getting any entries now -which I assume is good when all my attempted web connections are working first and every time). This seems more correct salient log info to me.

My PC and my son's PC surfing seem to be 100% normal with PVC0 deactivated.

The ONLY difference is that I NOW can see is in STATUS> Device Info where the PVC0 entry has disappeared which seems logical.

OK my basic/silly questions
1) Why would the set-up wizard set up PVC1 and not PVC0 as the one I am using (or did you think I did something wrong)?
2) Is there ANY downside or potential issue with my router using PVC1 (instead of PVC0)
3) As no Username or password is allocated to PVC0 is it 100% safe to deactivate it to stop the "call failed" log entries which seem to do with PVC0 (and not my active PVC1)
4) Leading on from 3) is it advisable to deactivate unused PVCs anyway. If not, why not?
Finally :)
5) PVC2 to PVC7 all have N/A and Status: Bridge. They are all currently activate. What are they and should they remain activate or should I deactivate them OR DOES IT NOT MATTER WITH THESE BRIDGE PVCs?
