Low Homegroup file sharing speed

I was doing file sharing on Homegroup using WiFi on two laptops, placed very close and in direct range of WiFi antenna.
My max file sharing remains 60% of 72 Mbps (72 Mbps, because laptop WiFi adapter is Broadcom 4313GN 802.11 b/g/n 1x1).
So max file transmission speed is 54 Mbps, i.e., ~7 MBps. Why such low throughput? Why it can't operate @ 95%+ efficiency?:confused:
Please let me know what's the issue.
My laptop operates @ 99% of 100 Mbps over LAN when connected to friend's Desktop PC. So, there's not issue about my laptop's performance.
