Really annoying intermittent network error

Hi,
I'm running a home network from a Virgin hub through TP-Link PA411 Kit hubs, to a TP-Link TLSG1005SD Gigabit switch.
And. It. Keeps. Intermittently. Dropping. Connection. Arrrghh!!!!
It does it about 3-10 times a day. Each time, the network error yellow asterisk appears on my desktop system tray. Each time, all the lights on all the gear are exactly what they should be. There is no common factor (e.g. we don't use the vacuum cleaner 3-10 times a day...) and the fibre service from Virgin is fine (wireless works during this time without a problem!). The problem rights itself after 30-60 seconds, but during this window all internet access is lost.
I can't begin to track down this problem, because the problem is so intermittent.
Help?!?!?!?!?! Please?!?!
