Trying to setup a TL-WR841N

Hi all, I'm trying to setup aforementioned model as Wireless accesspoint for our household internet.
The stationary has no trouble connecting to the internet but the laptop cannot connect to the network.
When running the quick setup I run into the errors"Please check the network connectivity" under configuring router in confirm setup and the "Please check the model of your router"
I've been fiddling but can't make it work properly, any ideas from the tech savvy folk on the internet-tubes?
