I am looking at buying a

TP-Link Archer NX200 5G AX1800 Wireless Dual-Band

Gigabit Router for our boat in France for use with a french sim card.

I want to buy it in Australia.

My question is other than the wall plug needing a french adaptor are there any other compatibility issues if this is bought in Australia but used in France?

Thank you

Sally

Hi, welcome to our community.

Usually, we recommend using the original power adpater for the router for stable power supply.

To use the data roaming function on NX200 Router, you typically need to have an active data plan with your mobile service provider that includes international roaming services. It's important to note that data roaming may incur additional charges, and the rates for data usage vary depending on the mobile network and service provider.
By enabling data roaming on your SIM card and 5G Router, you could stay connected to the internet and access online services while traveling abroad without the need for a local SIM card.
If the data roaming feature doesn't work, you can perform the following troubleshooting steps:
1). Test the data roaming on another 5G device, such as a mobile phone, to verify if the issue is specific to the TP-Link 5G Router or the SIM card.
2). Ensure that your TP-Link 5G Router is using the correct APN profiles for the new mobile operator in the foreign country. The APN profiles determine the network settings required for data connectivity.

Thank you and best regards.

Hi. Thank you for your response.

I maybe wasn't clear. We live on our boat in France for 6 months and won't be using an Australian sim with roaming. That would not be cost effective.

We will be using a french sim which works everywhere in Europe.

My question is will this router work in Europe with a french sim. I had heard you cannot buy this in one country and then use it in another.

The same product is available on amazon france but is more expensive than here in Australia. So, my question is if I buy it here in Australia will it work in France with a french sim card?

Thank you

@Saljj I'm fairly sure the spec is the same worldwide, so I think you'll be OK.

I bought one in Thailand and it works in the UK.
