Region : Brazil

Model : TL-WR941ND

Hardware Version : V3

Firmware Version : Last one from the website

ISP : Virtua Net

Hello,

I configured my TL-WR941ND v3.5 as WDS, and it works fine when I finish configuring it.

However, after 12 hours or so, it stops working. Some devices cannot connect to it and others can, but can't access the internet.

My ISP provider has a dynamic IP, and I don't know if that can interfere with the configuration.

The main router is also TP-Link, but its the TL-WR740N.

Please help me figure it out.

Thank you!

When you cannot access internet with the WDS one, can you still access internet with the main one, WR740?
Change a channel on WR740 like 1, 6 or 11 and reconfigure WR941.

Yes, I can access the Internet on the main router.
Also, the WiFi is still up on the 941, but I cannot join it.

I will try changing the channel, but just to be sure, I should change it on both right?

Yup, channel in WDS one should be the same as the main one.

Doesn't work. I tried changing channels 13 or 11 and neither work in the long run. After about 12 hours the wds bridge the devices connected to it cannot access the internet. I have to restart the wds bridge to get it work again. Am frustrated.

A rather similar problem over here, only in my case, my WR740N does WDS. It works for a few minutes, then just stops (I have to restart it to get it working again).

WDS mode isn't very stable and needs strong wireless signal without interferences.

Not really an excuse for not implementing a recovery mechanism (if rebooting can fix it, then there's got to be a simpler, automatic solution).

Not an excuse, is the truth, or you don't like truth
As you found out reboot fixes the issue, third party solutions have Cron, (scheduling) learn about it in their forums.

I know what a cron job is, and setting a device to automatically reboot every two minutes would be pointless, really. Luckily, now I also know that third party solutions don't have this problem (just tried DD-WRT), so no need to reboot. TP-Link routers have had firmware issues for as long as I can remember, and all I can say is I'm done with them.

And if you allready know, as you post, why bother buying other brands, 2X or 3X times more expensive
Enable Cron, it will be a good idea, cause the crowded 2.4 Ghz. band will always give you issues, not in 2 minutes, but after one or two weeks it might, 4am it's a good time
