W8970 firmware load failure

W8970 firmware load failure

i setup the new router but was having issues witht he ADSL disonnecting and re-initialising so i thought i may as well load the latest firmware fromt he web site. TD-W8970v1_0.6.0_2.12
not sure what happened but it loaded OK, but when i reset the defaults and rebooted, it now doesn't work.
network interface shows connected but no DHCP but the link come on when i connect the cable, when i have checked arp on PC it shows the router does not have a mac address but is registered in ARP
when i force the arp to the original MAC stil does not respond to ping.
ive tried the reset button and power cycled a couple of times but it.
does anyone know what i can do before i take it back?
