Hey there I am hoping there will be some people who can help me with my problem.

I currently own a TP-Link TD-W8968 V2.0 and I have been using it trouble free for a couple of months now.

I was pairing it with a ZTE K3772-Z 3G modem to provide internet and Wifi to the house. However recently the ZTE modem broke. So I decided to go out and get a new one and I settled on the MA180 (v2.0)from my local computer shop. Since then this thing has been a major pain to get working. The connection frequently drops and also the network latency is terrible. I am often getting 300ms or more latency when it was below 50ms when using the ZTE modem. Can anyone help me figure out why this MA180 is not playing nicely with my W8968? Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!

Regards
Alastair

What's the firmware version of your W8968 V2? Download and upgrade the latest firmware.

When connection drops, what's the status of 3G on web interface of W8968?
Can yo plug MA180 directly to your PC and test if the connection is stable?

Thank you for the reply. My W8968 is a V2.0 and it has the latest available firmware installed. The Web interface of my W8968 says that it is still connected when the connections to the net drops, but the options to connect and disconnect are both greyed out. I have tested with the connections settings set to "Always on", "Connect On Demand" and also "Connect Manually" without success. Also the light on the MA180 stays solidly lit indicating it is still connected, even when my PC says the connection has dropped. In order to connect again I have to unplug the MA180 and plug it back in again. I have tried using the MA180 in my machine. But I don't think the software likes playing nicely with Windows 8.1.

The software may not be able to run properly on Win 8.1...
When you cannot access internet, there is Internet IP address under 3G?
Try to ping google.com and ping 8.8.8.8. Maybe it is a DNS issue. On web interface of W8968, go to DHCP---DHCP Settings and change primary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and secondary DNS to 8.8.4.4.

Hi there. So I tried what you said and the internet still drops. I set the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and it still drops. I don't get it? How can I get perfect service with a Vodafone modem straight out of the box but I get such crappy performance with one of TP-Links own modems?

Also why has the W8968 V2's firmware had an update since 24/06/2014? Surely they should release new updates in order to improve compatibility with newer 3G dongles? So far I am a very displeased TP-Link customer.

You know V3 is coming out and I'm afraid that there is no newer update for V2 in future...
However, since you cannot test and confirm that MA180 is working OK, it is unfair to say that W8968 V2's firmware doesn't compatible with MA180...
Now can you test MA180 on Windows 7 (32/64bits), Windows Vista (32/64bits), or Windows XP (32/64bits)?
