Locking up router

I have had no problems setting the extender up and it works great, however at some point in the day, every day, it causes my router to lock up and kills the Internet connection wirelessly. I'm using Virgin media's superhub 2, which has a poor range, hence the extender, and the only thing I can see that's odd is that on the extenders status page it shows the router as not connected to the Internet even though it clearly is.This is driving me mad as I'm having to reboot the router every day or switch off the extender so the router doesn't lock up.I'm using the latest firmware too.
