I know that Android is limited to the main channel (stupid OS), but I don't understand why you're speaking about Android if you're using a Windows laptop !?

Yes, I am using a laptop but others may not be! It's possible that a lot of people checking their area for Wi-Fi signals will be using an Android device and not seeing the real situation so I am letting those people know. I didn't know, until yesterday, that Android had this limitation and I'm sure a lot of other people are not aware of it either.
The whole point of this post is to find out HOW to stop the RE200 from transmitting on 2 channels and this "discussion" went down the laptop/android road for obvious reasons if you read the entire post; also, you'll see that someone was interested in the outcome!

OK, I thought you were explaining a justification given by TP-Link about this probable bug...

By the way, a few years ago, I registered the Android limitation somewhere here but they don't care...

Ah, I see, no, not at all :-)
I'm going to look through the lisitings in that link you sent... could make interesting reading.
Thanks

Well, it seems this is going nowhere!
I opened a ticket with TP-LINK last week and they've not come back to me!
So, time to get rid of this RE200 and buy something from a different manufacturer that is configurable!
Thanks TP-LINK.... for NOTHING!

That's strange.
Generally, there is always someone able to answer you politely.
When the question becomes hard, it is forwarded to an engineer.
I suggest you to add a new request...

I finally got a reply 2 days ago. Someone told me I didn't know how these devices work and I was doing something wrong!
I replied with one simple question:
"If my router is transmitting on Channel 1 only, should the RE200 transmit on Channel 1 only too?". They answered "Yes".

Well, that's NOT what's happening and tonight I replied to them to ask where I go from here. I have had to unplug it because it is causing major interference to my neighbour; so, I can't use it until this is sorted out.
I even tried setting it up on a different SSID with the assumption I could set it on a different channel; that at least would get me somewhere. But, no, there is still no way to adjust either the ongoing channel number or bandwidth!
At this stage, I just feel it's pointless and I'm going to box it up and put it in a drawer somewhere... unless they come back with a solution :-)
I won't hold my breath!

Mlhifi, you should ask an escalation (an answer from senior engineer) because that looks like a big bug...

I have been been asked to provide proof that my RE200 is "doubling up" the channel bandwidth. This I have done; a screen-grab of inSSIDer display on my HP laptop clearly showing what is going on. This will be forwarded to their engineers tomorrow (Monday) so we shall see where it goes from here.
"Watch this space" as they say :-)
Regards to all,
Mike

Sadly, the engineer is telling me there's nothing wrong! The guy that I was dealing with sent me a screen-grab of his RE200 forwarding a single channel (3) the same as the router input signal channel(3). Mine is NOT doing that... so I don't know where to go from here!
I have asked this engineer to forward all our correspondance to the manufacturers.
There is a Channel drop-down-menu that is greyed out! Why is it there? That is what I want to know.
At this rate, I will have to dump this RE200 in the trash and buy from a different manufacturer!
