Hi People

Hoping someone can help or advise

I have just moved over to Virgin from BT with the 152MB Connection. I am currently using the TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT AV500 Power line 300M, Wired to PC in the next room. The BT Router was just outside the door. The BT Connection was fine, and was downloading at the speed I was expecting.

The Virgin media, ummm not sure what’s going on, the Router is now based in the sitting room. I have connected the TP Receiver to the wall connection, then paired the other to my PC. The speed was unbearable. I then tried laptop on the Wireless connection same room....Speed Test 157mb boom so that's working fine. The speed check was completed on my PC 8MB, not great. The Ports on my new router were tested with the Laptop, switched WIFI off. Speed Test 157MB so ports working ok.

I have completed a full reset on both TP Devices, through the software. Then reconnected per instructions, again both connected fine speed check poor. I rechecked the Software and it’s stuck on 22mbps, sometimes this disappears and comes back. Even with the Speed check started the 22mps doesn’t change

When I was running with BT and Router was round the corner connected through the TP Link the Speed check was 47MB, as its now in the sitting room would this be causing the massive drop in speed.

So WIFI working fantastic on SpeedCheck
Laptop Connected direct to Router working great
Router Connected to TP and then TP Connected to PC (not great)

Hope you can help or advise.

Thanks

LAN ports of PA4010 and WPA4220 are only 100Mbps...
After upgrade the line, the speed is limited by powerline devices in the network actually...
Check the rate via TP-LINK utility and connection speed between powerline and PC.

Hi M Diamond

Thanks for the update.

The Power line Software is stuck at 22mps, now something interesting which I never thought off.

There are 2 Standard wall sockets in the sitting room, however not enough for my equipment. I had an Engineer install a further 6 coming from the 2 Standard ones.
Also I understand he placed this on its own circuit with a spur.

The 1st Power line is connected to this new socket with the router in the sitting room.
The 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] Power Line is connected to an old socket in the other room with my PC.

Thinking would this cause a massive drop, running on the new socket and having the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] Power line on an old socket

I am currently at work, so not able to test this theory

Thanks

Hi Geordie502,
Did you get a chance to verify it? :)

Hi M Diamond

I moved the 1st Power line to a normal socket and the connection was improved, not great went to 88mbs.
My Daughter has a 3rd Power line connected and hers is 346mbs.

Most be the way the sockets are all connected, maybe my study is on the last part so takes a long time to reach me.

Very Strange

It is strange indeed but it should be a wiring issue...
