I have TL-WN721N that works fine when connected to USB 2 port.
However if I connect the same to USB 3 port it simply fails to work. It's detected but results in Error Code 10 (Device can not start) in Device Manager.
I though USB 3 is supposed to be backward compatible with USB 2. I tried installing driver again, but it says 'Windows has determined that the driver for your device is up to date'
I am running Windows 7 32 bit OS.

Does it mean this device just won't work in USB 3 port or am I missing somethings? Thanks.

Hi,

That sounds like a PC issue...
Did you install all the MB drivers?

Thanks HiSpeed for prompt response. As such all drivers including MB and WiFi adapter are installed including latest driver for USB 3 port as provided by Gigabyte (Mobo manufacturer).
In USB port TL-WN721N simply does not work. It's ver is 1.9. For TL-WN721N I have used drivers from TL-WN721N_V1_131113.
Next revision TL-WN721N_V1_140915 is available but there's no change in drivers for Win XP/7 or 8
I will also try with Live Linux and see if it's detected at USB3 port and report back. Thanks.

TL-WN721N uses an Atheros AR9002U chip.

The best driver is probably here:

The Atheros driver also works when device is connected to USB 2 port only. It fails to detect the device on USB 3 port.
Is this device compatible in USB 3 port? Is there any info available on the same.

I can simply forget this as long as I am attaching the device to USB 2 where it works perfect!
On Linux also it's detected only at USB 2.
