Model : TL-PA511 & TP-PA4030

Hardware Version : Not Clear

Firmware Version : unknown

ISP : BT

big Powerline fan! been running them successfully for many years. :)

currently run the 600Mbs 5plug system in my own home, having upgraded from the 500Mbps...

the old 500Mbps plugs where then fitted in a friends home, again 5 in total.

But I have never known a Powerline network to be so flappy! :(

I dont think its faulty plugs as I was using them without issue.
This is the second set I have fitted there. So I suspect its a wiring issue in the home?

using the utility to monitor the network it continually defaults the Names i have set....thats one issue:

If I open the window I see the following 3 plugs only:

Living Room - 55Mbps
Orangrey - 168Mbps
Annex - 229Mbps

(note the poor speed on the living room plug)

and then intermittently it changes to

Living room - 55Mbps
Annex - 229Mbps
Bedroom - 60Mbps

(again a very poor speed on the Bedroom, but also note the Living Room has vanished!)

The house has had some electrical issues and had the main consumer unit replaced due to being insufficient for the load. But have been assured the wiring is good (except the living room)

The Living Room currently has some temporary wiring in place, and I'm beginning to wonder if that is an indication to something not being normal behind the walls in the rest of this home.

I have only ever seen one oddity with Powerline plugs and that was fixed by securing the network in another place.

All 5 of these plugs are secured, but I continually loose connection from the Bedroom and the Annex (both have Apple WiFi Access Points attached)

Any thoughts on what could be going on, or things I should try to get a stable LAN

Draytek Router
Apple Airport Express x 2
5 Powerline 500Mbps plugs (some are 3 port)

TIA

How about status of lights on all powerline adapters? Are you sure that all of them have been paired?
http://www.tp-link.com/en/faq-258.html

Download the new utility here and monitor all of them in the powerline network.

By the way, what's the model number indeed?

great start, thankyou Diamond! :)

dowloaded TL-PA4030(UK)_V1_Utility_131216 and now all 4 plugs are appearing in the same Network window....

Living Room 64Mbps
Orangrey 164Mbps
Annex 218Mps
Bedroom 60Mbps

can't confirm the lights without another site visit, but surely if I hadn't paired correctly I wouldn't be getting network?

I know the Powerline (House) light was on for all... from memory

as you can see I'm only getting 60Mbps on two of the plugs tonight...and I know the Living Room has suspect wiring.

Knew you where going to ask me the model numbers to moment I posted this :D ...so I got the list ready!

TL-PA511 @ the router

TL-PA511 @ Orangery
TL-PA511 @ Living Room
TP-PA4030 @ Annex
TP-PA4030 @ Bedroom

TIA
