Model : TL-WA860RE

Hardware Version : V1

Firmware Version :

ISP : Virgin

Setting up the extender using the WPS buttons results in selection of 2g rather than 5g wireless signal. How can I get the extender to use the 5g channel as this is much faster and saves changing wifi connection on iphone when moving to 2g zone?

Login web interface of the range extender to set it up.
Refer to Method Two in quick installation guide.

Thanks. Tried this but the 5g channel did not appear on the list of available wifi sources. So assume this model of extender not able to extend 5g?

You are right. WA860RE is not a dual band range extender and it cannot broadcast 5GHz Wi-Fi signal.
