Can't log in to TD-8817 admin/admin account

My TD-8817 modem router has been set up as advised, connects successfully to the internet for web browsing and generally seems to work perfectly. However I am unable to log in to the admin account to access the web-management page. The login_security page appears as expected but when I enter "admin" as username and password then click the Login button my browser does absolutely nothing. Any ideas? I'm using IE11 under Windows 8.1 and absolutely standard settings for the modem.
