Speed slower than from remote router

I have a TL-WPA4220KIT which is working but is a slower wireless speed than that of my router at the other end of the house.
When I run WIFI Analyzer from my tablet in the room where the TP Link extender is fitted I find that the signal from my router is stronger than the signal from the extender.
The whole reason I purchased the WPA4220 was to get a better wireless signal.
Where might the problem lie?
