Hi, I have a TP-Link TD-W9980 v1 with up to date firmware: 0.6.0 1.12 v0021.0 Build 150507 Rel.40130n

I have purchased a new Seagate Archive 5TB SATA disk, which I plug into a special docking station, Unitek Y-1072:
http://www.unitek-products.com/en/product_detail.php?id=55

It tested to work with the 5TB disk on 2 laptops: Windows 7 and Windows 10.

The 5TB drive was formatted on friend's Windows 10 computer, as a "siimple partition" (GPT, since was impossible to do single MBR partition for it), and we copied some initial backup content for testing.
The computers see this partition through the Docking station without issue.

But the router only shows under USB Mass Storage: " Disk 1: ST5000AS ( 0011-1L5178 ) Rev: CC44" (status as Connected).
Storage Sharing is set to "
Anonymous access to all the volumes"

However, when I access the address \\192.168.1.1 via either laptop, it is empty, showing no mounts or "folders" to see/open.
When I connect my Kingston 32GB USB3 flash drive to the same port 1 (NTFS formatted), its content is mounted and showing up without issues.

Is there a bug in the firmware? The router specs do not say there is a limit on the maximum USB Share it can work with, neither in local store, or TP-Link specs page, or USB Sharing guide.

Please assist.

Thanks.

Not really, I stopped trying, I got a small freeNAS now instead, connected to that router.
Both my desktop and NAS have Gbit LAN cards, so I can transfer files at about 110MB/s.

This is much more versatile, efficient, faster and reliable than USB ports on router.. especially cheap chinese router like TP-Link, where we can see how we've got some reply...

Although truthfully, I did not try calling local sales support which is supposed to deal with router issues... they conveniently work only during our work hours :)

This really is pretty poor - the only reason I purchased this router was because my broadband was upgraded to vdsl and my previous TP-Link didn't any issues with the same drive. I see beta updates have been tried with other models, is there any likelihood of the same happening with this model? If not then I will be parting company with TP-Link once and for all and I just hope those I recommended them to didn't take any notice of me!
