Request to Add Cell Lock (PCI / EARFCN Lock) Feature to Archer NX500 Firmware
Hello TP-Link Team,
I would like to request the addition of a Cell Lock (Cell ID Lock) feature in the firmware of the Archer NX500 router.
Currently, the router allows automatic network selection and band selection, but it does not provide an option to lock the connection to a specific cellular tower using PCI and EARFCN/NRARFCN parameters. This feature is extremely important for users in areas with multiple nearby base stations where the router frequently switches between cells, causing:
-
unstable latency (ping spikes)
-
fluctuating speeds
-
connection drops during gaming or video calls
-
inconsistent signal quality
Many advanced users rely on Cell Lock to maintain a stable connection, especially in rural or congested network environments. Several competing 4G/5G routers already provide this functionality either through the web interface or advanced settings.
Requested functionality:
-
Ability to lock LTE/5G connection to a specific Cell ID (PCI + EARFCN/NRARFCN)
-
Option available in Advanced → Network → Cellular settings
-
Simple enable/disable toggle
-
Display of current serving cell information for easier configuration
Best regards,
NX500 User
