Model: Archer AX55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.5.10 Build 20251119 rel.50509(4555)

I have an Archer AX53 as my main router in my downstairs study connected to my VM modem, a RE705X range extender in my hallway and an Archer AX55 in sattelite mode upstairs.

The AX55 is too far from the AX53 to get good coverage.

How do I daisychain the upstairs AX55 off the intermediate RE705X to extend coverage upstairs?

Thanks

If you are using a wireless backhaul for all those three devices, your best shot would be to change that with an ethernet backhaul.

I believe that all three devices support an Easymesh ethernet backhaul.

You can daisy chain an EasyMesh satellite to another satellite. However, how well it performs depends entirely on whether you are using wireless or Ethernet (wired) connections for your network backbone.
1. Ethernet (Wired) Backhaul: Highly Recommended
If you use physical Ethernet cables to link the main router to the first satellite, and the first satellite to the second satellite, you will get excellent, stable performance.
  • Performance: There is virtually no speed degradation.
  • Setup: Simply connect the LAN port of the upstream device to the LAN/WAN port of the downstream satellite.
2. Wireless Backhaul: Not Recommended
If you try to wirelessly daisy chain satellites (Main Router → Satellite 1 → Satellite 2), you will likely experience significant drops in speed.
  • The "Hop" Penalty: Every wireless hop cuts your available bandwidth in half. If you are two wireless hops away from the main router, your connection speed on the farthest satellite will be very slow.
  • Instability: On Wi-Fi backhaul, devices sometimes prefer to connect to the weak, direct signal of the main router rather than the closer satellite.
Quick Setup Tips
  • Use Factory Defaults: When adding a new satellite into an already configured network using Ethernet, make sure it is reset to factory default mode before you wire it up.
  • Check Compatibility: Make sure both the main router and the satellites are running the latest firmware.
