extender signal losing connection to access point

i am having issue where the signal just loses connection to the main access point. dhcp enabled on the main access point , disabled on the extender. if i walk away from the room where the extender is to the area where the main access point is then it is fine again. not sure what the issue can be, didn't change anything other than the dhcp pool size but don't see this being issue. any suggestions. i am using firmware version: 1.0.0 Build 20150916 Rel. 34723
