I have recently set up parental controls for my kids and noticed my eldest Daughter was able to access the internet even though her phone was supposedly restricted. I've now found that when the kids connect via the BT300 range extender downstairs their connections are not restricted by the VR900. They are receiving IP addresses from the VR900 but it doesn't seem to be able to apply the parental controls.

Surely an oversight as far as security is concerned? Is there a fix or tweak to enable this?

Regards,
TH.

hi there,

it's not a VR900 fault.

most probably Your range extender changes the MAC Address of devices connected to it before delivering network packets to the VR900. This is the default behaviour of most range extenders.

You have to check in which way those MAC addresses are changed and instruct VR900 to block also the modified MAC addresses.
