I have attached on my router (TP-Link: TL-WDR3600) a hdd and when i try to play an mkv file with external srt through media server the subtitles are not displayed. By pressing the subtilte button on the remote nothing happens and the subtitle is set to off. I have enabled subtitles by default to on. I have no problems when i play the same files on a local storage.
I have the latest firmware on my TV and also on my router. I name o the mkv file si the same as the name of the subtitle ex: abc.mkv, abc.srt
Also when i use Plex as media server on my PC the external subtitles are displayed normally.
Do you know any program to scan my network to see if the subtitle is "arriving" to TV and it's rejected or the media sever dosen't seed it.

Sorry for posting in this Thread but when i try posting in Wi-fi Routers i received: Sorry! This forum is not accepting new posts.

Same Problem

I have the same problem and have been trying to pin down how to open captioning on my C8. What I have been told is that TP-Link has not yet released firmware capable of doing it. I guess it can be done in new firmware, but is not a priority and so has not been done. With the FCC and many agency really pushing captioning I hope they will decide soon to put in the effort and release a version to handle it. I have many friends with poor English or hearing, and captioning is a big help for them. I work in television and all new programming is now mandated to come captioned, it will be required in the new future even here. Come on TP-Link lets get with it? THANKS!
