TD-W9980 EWAN - how to configure?

It's supposed to be possible to use one of the ethernet ports on the TD-W9980 as a WAN port (for cable modem or external ADSL modem for example).
I can't see how this is done though, there doesn't seem to be anything in the User Guide about it.
Can anyone point me at some information about this?
