Modem: Thomson Cable Modem
WPA4226KIT
MacBook Pro late 2015 / 10.12 Sierra

Since the beginning I'm having problems with my WPA4226KIT and my MacBook Pro. The WPA4226KIT is working perfectly with every other device except for the Mac. Every 5 to 10 Minutes the connection stops working (it's still connected on the Mac but no data is transmitted). Only when I switch WiFi off and on again on the Mac it's all good again.

I've tried several things (picked different channel on my cable modem, upgraded Macbook to 10.12 Sierra, reset the WiFi preferences file on the Mac etc.) but none seem to work. It's very annoying and distracting when I'm trying to work. Anybody know of this issue and is there a workaround for it?

You can have a try to fix the channel on the wifi extender to 1,6 or 11 and change the channel width to 20MHz or 40MHz.
Fix the security type to wpa2-psk, aes.
For how to change these parts, refer to the user guide:
http://static.tp-link.com/TL-WPA4226KIT(EU)_V2_User_Guide_1481609740186h.pdf
Simply connect to the wifi extender's wifi, login to tplinkplc.net with admin.

Besides, you can ask apple support to see if they have some idea.
