Just got a C9 to upgrade my old Belkin router (used as access point). Locally (central London) there are many 2.4GHz users. I moved to 5GHz a few years ago and for a while there were no other in-range 5GHz users. Now there are several and my old Belkin router (and my main Virgin Media) one both allowed use of channels above 48. I moved on to these as, for the time being, there are no other in-range users. I was disappointed to see that the C9 does not allow these higher channels to be selected. Is there a way to do this? Alternative firmware? If not, could I request TP-Link consider allowing it ? - these higher channels are legal.

usually 5ghz has few interference than 2.4ghz, do you have devices working on channel high than 48? most devices can work on band 1.
can you show us what channel options you have in C9?
by the way, you can request to tp-link email support as feedback.

it seems that C9 doesn't support dfs so band 2 or 3 are not open. But usually most devices support band 1 so it is enough for daily use.

Thank you for that bit of info. I note DFS = dynamic frequency selection. I wasn't expecting modern kit to not have this capability given that some older devices I had were capable of DFS as a matter of routine. It is annoying that this kind of information is not given in published specifications or mentioned by reviewers; had I known in advance I would have bought a different device. The issue with Band1 was not compatibility with devices - the intent was to move to a band with no other in-range users. In crowded central London, I now have several neighbours using Band1 5GHz but none using Band2 or higher.

Hi,

FYI, my Netgear R7000 has: 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 100, 104, 108, 112, but my TP-Link Archer C7 only: 36, 40, 44, 48 ...
