Did you try to install the driver for Window 8 or 8.1？ With limited connectivity, IP address is 168.254...? Can you try static IP?

What you mentioned is LAN to WLAN speed instead of Wi-Fi speed, isn't it? You tried any other router with a better LAN to WLAN speed? Maybe it is the limitation of clients themselves.
