Implemented mDNS Service
Hello I was wondering in Omada where I can find the mDNS service ?
I have a TL-R605 router but some IoT devices (especially the once that use Apple HomeKit) do not work or better are unreachable when I put them in a different subnet using VLANs, this is very annoying.
Looking on internet everyone many tutorial (all made on Ubiquiti or sometimes other routers) explain that mDNS repeater is needed, but can't find it in Omada anywhere.
Or eventually is there a workaround or non explicit way to have this done ?
Thanks

This is really critical.
There are more and more smart devices around us that we want to be able to interact with from other VLANs and or subnets.
If I knew about this limitation before I bought the whole stack for my small office I would have gone with devices from the competition.

@Fae any luck seeing where this is on the roadmap? This is the hottest topic right now.

Seriously, customers are taken for a ride. How are you suppose to "look this up" before buying and getting into the configuration of the devices? From a prosumer/business setup I expect that this kind of stuff is working and if not right away after the release, that an update is out there within 3 months. I was very happy when I found a VLAN&IOT guide for unify and thought I could just transfer the steps onto Omada. It's a big bummer for me - expensive upgrade for nothing. Thank you TP-Link.
+1 for mDNS and working ACL

@Kaktus317 more and more i believe they are not investing and care about this product line (Omada)....weird they got money, I have friends and customers that I directing differently from TP-link because bugs and missing functions a part...they really do not provide a professional service, or well they really don't provide service...horrible compa

it's this "little stuff", isn't it? I for example was wondering why they do not provide a POE port on the router like with the OC Controller. I have a small cabin with modem, switch with POE and router stuffed in there and not needing several power supplys would have been very nice, especially when having over 80% of the switches POE unused...

@Xstreem zojuist in een webbinar gezien dat er vanaf Q2 dit jaar mDNS ondersteuning word toegevoegd in Omada SDN.

I don't have many years of experience with TP-Link. We can only hope that the roadmaps will be adhered to. However, this thread here should continue to receive "thumbs up" and "+1" comments, so that the TP-Link "Omada" is shown that this feature must come.
However, I can not find on the Internet this roadmap published by TP-Link itself.

Hi All,
Thank you for your valued and continuous feedback!
The feature request for the mDNS repeater feature (to support communication across VLANs or subnets) has been already submitted to the TP-Link team. Further research and development on this feature is on the way. I think the mDNS repeater feature will be supported in 2022, probably in Q2 or Q3 (just for your reference only). Cheers!
