X60 Deco select signal source / signaalbron
X60 Deco select signal source / signaalbron
hi, Had my new X60 DECO set today.
Work great / looks great. Took some time before i found / figured out the 'internet settings' in the globe-pic.
Then stumbled on same problem as you all :
in a 1-2-3 setting , nr.3 is connecting wireless to nr.1 ???? and there is no way to set nr3 to nr2 as a signal source ??
Why when nr1 (weak) is further away than nr2 ! (stronger signal).
In my config 1 and 2 are cable-backboned to each other.
So i stumbled on an early post :
" 1. in the deco app click on the globe icon (says internet)
2. click on the three dots column in the top right - select "Set Main Deco"
3. Choose the main deco to be the unit in the middle of your chain and click SAVE.
4. You will see a warning that says "make sure this deco is connected to your modem or ethrenet" - IGNORE IT even if your main unit is not connected to the internet it will still work. All your units will now connect to the new "main Deco" that is in the middle of your netwrork regardless if this is the one that is physically conected to the internet. "
If you do this you get errors / no internet ....
Switch back the main deco to nr1. and hey presto !
>> nr2 source is nr1.....
>> and nr3 source is nr2 (!!!)
Update: day later still works !
(still a mystery to me why we can't choose source for ourselfs !! Problem is over year(s) old, and newest firmware still doesn't fix it)

What kind of mesh network is this exactly?
I've got a threepack. They will always connect to the main deco whatever I do.
2 Deco's wired. 1 in Mesh. A wired Deco is 3 meters away but the Mesh deco will only connect to the main deco which is 20 meters away resulting in poor performance...
As this has been an issue since 2 years I'll be returning them to the store.
Nothing about this issue in any review...
... I feel cheated.
Grtz!

If you can run your Deco in Access Point mode, there is a fix for your specific Deco units setup.

OK so I've finally had enough of using powerline adaptors a WiFi range extenders so got my hands of a trio of X60's yesterday.
I have all three set almost in a line from front of house (1), back of house (2) and down the garden (3) and I couldn't get the 3rd one in the garden to connect to (2). It would always connect to (1) despite only having 1 bar signal.
I read through all the threads on here and tried everything mentioned but nothing would work. Slept on it last night and woke up with a great idea that actually worked.
I found a large metal saucepan, placed it over (1) for a minute or two until (3) connected to (2), removed the saucepan and its stayed connected ever since.
Speed when connected to (3) however is not much different than it was before as its now having to jump through two devices rather that direct to main (1).
