Hi TP-Link Community! Happy new year to all of you :)

I'm currently in the process of planning a new network setup and I'm leaning towards the EAP683 LR as access points. I understood that these units are coming without a DC power adapter. I won't be using POE, so I'd like to power these with a separate DC adapter. Is there a recommended one? Or is there maybe a part-/modelnumber for a spare part power adapter?

thanks and BR!

https://www.tp-link.com/ca/business-networking/soho-switch-poe/tl-sg105pp-m2/ is POE+ AND 2.5Gbps. It makes a good POE port expander but is not manageable by Omada...in fact there is no manageable 2.5Gbps POE option at this time (but I expect it to arrive within a year) Any fan will be noisy...don't go XHP-M2 if you have to live/work next to it. If you have power and ethernet nearby, then as long as the cost of the 12VDC wall plugs is less than the cost of the POE switch, go for it. In my region, the generic wallplugs are about $35 and the SG105PP about $200...so not worth it.

12VDC, 2A (24W) with what looks like a 2.5mm? center positive plug.  Unless you are meshing these and don't have cabling, I would strongly recommend you consider POE+ via something like the SG105PP

Thanks for your fast response!

Actually my plan was to connect the APs to a SG3210X-M2, which is 2.5G, but without POE. Another option would be TL-SG3210XHP-M2, which is more or less the same, but with POE+. Besides the significant oncost, the "HP" version seems to have very noisy fans. Could this have been improved with the "V2" Hardware Version?

The TL-SG105PE seems to be lacking 2.5G support, is that correct? And could that be managed with an Omada controller?

Thanks so far!

P.S.: Maybe this is a dumb question, but I don't get the real benefits of POE for my scenario. Everywhere I want to place the APs, I have power and ethernet available. So my understanding is, that I can safe for the losses in the ethernet cables, if I just use a "classic" power adapter... Am I missing something?

Thanks for your help, much appreciated!

I'm still not finished with my plannings but I will likely go with the external DC power supplies or maybe use a POE injector...
