Model: EAP610   TL-SG108E
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: v3

Like the title states, I'm lost.

In the past, I've installed routers and even flashed routers, installed ata devices, a NAS and other internet-related devices, but this EAP610 has me confused.

In the basement I have my cable internet cable going into a Hiltron COA-4582U modem.  The modem is connected to a TL-SG108E switch.

Connected to the switch is an an older Asu modem RT-AC66R.

The modem broadcasts a signal no problem.  The EAP610 is connected to the switch but no light light comes on the EAP610.

I am not using the power cord and hoping to have power being provided by poe.

Am I missing something here?

Any help would be welcome.

My apologies if this is a stupid question.

Thank you in advance.

  @ofogao

You need the SG-108PE switch to support POE.

If you cannot return the 108E, then you will need a POE injector which is compatible to power the 610 AP.

  @d0ugmac1

Thank you for helping.  Much appreciated.

The TL-SG108Pe is poe comp but it isn't managed, correct?

Apart for my eap610, I'm also thinking of adding some cameras sometime soon.

Do I really need a managed switch?

Cheers

  @ofogao

I would not recommend spending money on the Smart switch (has an E suffix) device unless you know why you might want or need to.

Your existing cable modem already has 4 yellow LAN ports you can use for your 2 APs.  If you need POE for install aesthetics, use an injector or a cheap SG105P switch for now.
