This problem has been going on for quite some time. It's a matter of FW implementation.

Originally, the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) used port 25.

Despite its pedigree, many ISPs (Internet Service Providers) and email providers have started to block incoming connections on port 25 as a security measure.

Today, SMTP should instead use port 587 — this is the port for encrypted email transmissions using SMTP Secure (SMTPS). Port 465 is also used sometimes for SMTPS. However, this is an outdated implementation and port 587 should be used if possible.

Unfortunatelly, the SMTP port 25 is used in TP-LInk home grade routers to send the system logs to an e-mail address, which nowadays is almost useless.
