Is this just a limitation of Deco devices? On a Satellite Deco, if one connected device is doing something heavy, for example, downloading, then it will tank the performance of every other device connected to that Satellite Deco.

Also if, for example, I'm downloading something on a device and run a speed test at the same time on that device, the speed test will return very poor results.

This doesn't happen when you just have a router and stay connected to that, even poor routers.

I was just wondering, is this behaviour normal for Deco mesh systems, and is there any way around it?

Secondly, I've been testing a few different Decos lately, just by adding them all to the Network then taking them offline once tested. Even though they're offline after that, could this impact my network performance overall? I've had my Deco setup for a while, could it help just resetting the whole network? How would I do that when my Superhub3 is in modem mode please?

Thx

  @EyeloMilo

Hi,

When multiple devices are connected to the same router, they share the total available bandwidth.

If one device is using a lot of bandwidth for activities like streaming or downloading, it can slow down the internet for other devices. So it is normal, please do not worry.

To help with this, you can set up Quality of Service (QoS) for specific devices.

And about another question you mentioned, are you concerned that an offline Deco unit might affect the Deco network?

if a satellite Deco unit is offline, it won’t impact the overall Deco system. If you’re no longer using that unit, you can simply remove it from the network.

  @Sunshine Thank you for the reply. My concern isn't just that it is slowing down, but that it slows down significantly.

So when a satellite Deco is available, and say I download something on one device on that satellite deco, the Wifi for everyone other device on that Deco will be pretty horrible and can drop as low as 3mbps. It is unusable and unstable.

This does not happen with a router. Even with multiple devices are connected to a router, it won't drastically drop speeds on other devices if one of them has heavy usage.

So I just wondered, are all mesh WiFi systems like this, or is it a limitation present in all Deco systems regardless of model? It's hard to understand why it can be so severe. Are there any alternatives or workarounds to a situation such as this? My Decos are connected wirelessly. Thanks for your response. With regards to the offline Decos, that is what I wondered yes, thanks for answering.
