VLAN configuration acting strange
VLAN configuration acting strange

I created a VLAN (WLAN) between TL-SG108PE and TL-SG1016PE and connect SG108PE port 8 to SG1016PE port 16. On the SG108PE, I created the following
- VLAN ->802.1Q VLAN -> 802.1Q VLAN Configuration -> Enable
- VLAN ->802.1Q VLAN -> 802.1Q VLAN Configuration -> VLAN ID = 2 :VLAN Name=WLAN :Port 8 = Untagged
- VLAN ->802.1Q VLAN -> 802.1Q PVID Setting -> Port 8 = 2
- VLAN ->802.1Q VLAN -> 802.1Q VLAN Configuration -> VLAN ID = 1 :VLAN Name=Default :Port 8 = Not Member
On the SG1016PE, I created the following
- VLAN ->802.1Q VLAN -> 802.1Q VLAN Configuration -> Enable
- VLAN ->802.1Q VLAN -> 802.1Q VLAN Configuration -> VLAN ID = 2 :VLAN Name=WLAN :Port 16 = Untagged
- VLAN ->802.1Q VLAN -> 802.1Q PVID Setting -> Port 16 = 2
I can access the SG1016PE switch until I set the following
- VLAN ->802.1Q VLAN -> 802.1Q VLAN Configuration -> VLAN ID = 1 :VLAN Name=Default :Port 16 = Not Member
I created the same on another SG108PE. It works. Is there something wrong with my SG1016PE?
I just got this switch.

In looking over your latest configuration, I see several errors:
1. Port 16 of the SG1016PE needs to have the default VLAN as an untagged member.
2. Port 8 of the SG108PE needs to have the default VLAN as an untagged member.
If i have understood you, your connections now look like this:
Adding the default VLAN to the ports should allow you to access the switches correctly.

@jra11500 Thanks for helping me troubleshoot. Still not working. I tried your suggestion as per configuration below SG108PE. Port 8 SG108PE is connected to Port 16 SG1016PE
SG1016PE configuration using Web because the switch is still not discovered using the Easy Config Utility

If the PC running the Easy Smart configuration utility is on the same subnet as the switch, there should be no problem. The way you now have the SG1016PE configured, only the default VLAN is accessible as all the ports have a PVID of 1 and there are no other VLAN access ports configured. What exactly is not working? Where is your router connected? Where is your PC connected? Can you provide a diagram of your connections?

@jra11500 Below is by switches. Right now the SG1016PE is not in discovered. When it is default, the switch can be discovered. All the switches are configured on 192.168.68.xx subnet. My PC is located on the same subnet but I cannot access the new switch. I thin kthere is something wrong with the SG1016PE switch. If it is faulty, I want to claim for warranty.

What I would recommend is to configure the SG1016PE with the same settings as the SG108PE that it is replacing. That is, use the same exact settings that you have in the working SG108PE in the SG1016PE, port by port, with the same port number connections, and leave the additional unused 8 ports only configured in the default VLAN. Everything should work. If not, the switch may be faulty.
