deco x50 outdoor mac filter
Hello,
I’m opening this new thread as a follow-up to the locked discussion here: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/622250.
I have several Deco X50 units at home and have been using the Wi-Fi Access Control (MAC whitelist) feature successfully. Recently, I purchased a Deco X50-Outdoor for my garden, and since adding it to my mesh, the whitelist option has disappeared. This is very frustrating, as it was an important part of my network setup.
In the previous thread, TP-Link mentioned that the plan was to gradually roll out the same firmware to different models, but that the whitelist would “still not be available on the next update for Deco X50-Outdoor.” That was nearly two years ago.
Today, my Deco app updated the X50-Outdoor to firmware 1.3.0 (Build 20250718 Rel.43619), but unfortunately, the whitelist function is still missing.
Could you please confirm if there has been any progress in this matter, and whether there is now a clear timeline for adding this essential feature to the Deco X50-Outdoor?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

Today I returned four Deco x50s and one x50 Outdoor for exactly that reason. Took me a while and some research to understand why the function in the app was nowhere to be found.
I wanted to replace my old Apple Airport Extremes, but without whitelisting, this was sadly no option for me.
How a device released in 2022 never supported this basic wifi function from the start is beyond me, but apparently the indoor Deco x50s also gained this later via firmware update.

I don't understand why it's so difficult for support to answer here whether the function for x50 outdoor is planned in a future update. and if so, when approximately. Unfortunately, I can't return the x50 outdoor to the seller. I've had it for a little over a month now...

I just ordered the BE25-Outdoor on Amazon and will give it a try. Specs list "Access Control" under wifi-security, couldn't find clear answers if this refers to whitelisting or not.
If the B25 line has this feature then I will bite the bullet and get 4 indoor units as well.

I can now confirm that the Deco BE25 Outdoor supports whitelisting, or "allow list" as it is called.

I have to say that TP-Link has perhaps the worst technical support I've ever experienced... they can't even answer if they're planning an update or if I should get rid of this thing...

The tp-link staff that monitor the support forms are not told if/when firmware will be released. They can't provide an answer if they are never given the answer.

ok. I guess I work in a company that is too customer-oriented and that's why this feels wrong to me... I don't know. Maybe I would just expect someone to write to me and try to find out from the developers. But there is no answer here. Your message is probably the only answer from someone from TP-Link... up to this point, only me and another frustrated customer have written here...
