Omada v6 Feedback – Live Traffic, Connection Insight, and Usability Improvements

From an MSP and advanced user perspective.

1. Dashboard – Replace “Pending Alerts” with Live Activity

  • The current Pending Alerts section is mostly static and not valuable in daily operations.

  • Replace it with live network insight, such as:

    • Top 5–10 most active clients (upload/download throughput).

    • Connected port or AP for each active client.

    • Continuous refresh for real-time monitoring.

  • Gateway and WAN status should also refresh live, without requiring manual page reloads.

2. Real-Time Feedback Everywhere

  • Many Omada menus provide only static or delayed data.

  • We need live traffic visualization across the platform:

    • Real-time graphs for total WAN/LAN usage.

    • Per-client and per-port live activity.

    • Instant reflection of current throughput and session count.

This is critical for MSP-level monitoring and troubleshooting, where instant feedback is key.

3. Client and VPN Visibility

  • Each client should display:

    • Current throughput (upload/download).

    • Total active TCP/UDP sessions.

    • Connection history and top destinations.

  • Show connected VPN users and their:

    • Current bandwidth.

    • Session duration.

    • Data usage totals (sent/received).

Ideally, sortable by usage, latency, or connection count.

4. Dedicated “Connections” Page

  • Add a Connections page or tab showing:

    • All active TCP/UDP connections, source/destination IPs and ports.

    • Number of active sessions per system or per client.

    • Live data throughput per connection.

    • Ability to filter, search, and optionally terminate connections.

This would provide real firewall-level visibility directly within Omada, without needing SSH or external tools.

5. Port Forwarding – Live Connection View

  • Port forwarding rules should show:

    • How many IPs are currently connected through each rule.

    • Real-time bandwidth usage on each forward.

    • Optionally, a quick way to trace or limit specific traffic.  The ability to set bandwidth limits for the port forward in the rule.

This is invaluable for diagnosing slowdowns, abuse, or unexpected external access.

6. Live Activity Graphs

  • The main activity graph on the dashboard should animate in real time.

  • Currently, it’s static — which limits its usefulness.

  • A rolling, continuously updating view of total upload/download would improve visibility and make the system feel responsive.

Summary

Omada v6 has strong potential but needs a major shift toward real-time visibility and live control.
The platform feels static, while MSPs and power users need constant situational awareness — active clients, live traffic, active connections, and VPN usage at a glance.

Implementing these features would make Omada a truly professional-grade monitoring and management solution.

I am sure there is more but... while I have the thought I wanted to post it.
