Hi,
I’m having trouble setting up my TP-Link AX1800 Wi-Fi Range Extender (model RE605X) in Access Point mode after switching to a new router from my provider.

My new router provides a fast and stable internet connection — both over Wi-Fi and via Ethernet to my PCs.

When I use the extender in Range Extender mode, setup through the TP-Link Tether app and on PC works perfectly.

Previously, I had successfully used this RE605X in Access Point mode with no issues, and setup was simple.
However, now when I switch the device to Access Point mode, I can access the setup page at tplinkrepeater.net for only about a minute. After that, it disconnects me from the extender’s Wi-Fi, and I can no longer access the device or its management page.

The main router’s Wi-Fi continues to work fine, but the Access Point stops responding.

Does anyone know what could be causing this or how to fix it?

Setting a RE in AP mode is pretty straight forward operation - details.

When you switch the RE605X in AP mode check it's LAN IP address and make sure that it's in the main router's LAN subnet.

Even better, set it's LAN IP address with as static and within your main router LAN subnet.

For example, if your main router LAN IP address is 192.168.0.1 set the RE605X IP address to 192.168.0.254.

RE605X DHCP server should be turned off, so only your main router DHCP server is active.
