Hey everyone,

I’m thinking about getting the TP-Link TL-SG1428PE for my setup. It looks like a good mid-range managed PoE switch with 24 PoE+ ports, which seems perfect for powering access points and IP cameras.

Has anyone here used it in a real environment? How’s the performance and reliability over time? I’m particularly curious about the fan noise and PoE power budget — does it handle multiple high-draw devices well?

Also, how’s the management interface? I’ve used a few TP-Link switches before, but I’m wondering if this one has any quirks or limitations I should know about.

Would really appreciate some feedback or experiences before I pull the trigger.

Thank you for your post.
For this switch, the PoE power budget is specified as “up to 250 W*,” making it well-suited for small- to medium-sized business surveillance systems.
You can learn about its management interface in the User Guide, which is available on our official website.User Guide&Support Page

Hi @wajahatali SG1428PE might be fine for you. But before you decide, compare it with SG2428LP for a couple reasons:

1. If you can get by with 150W over 16x PoE+ port then SG2428LP is fanless.

2. SG2428LP is has a lot more management functionality that the SG1428PE, and the option to use Omada Controller for centralized config. If any of that is useful to you.

TP-Link has a lot of great fanless options. I also read a lot of complaints about the fans in TP-Link devices. What I read is:

- Apparently TP-Link fans are very noisy, so much so, people often 'mod' their TP-Link gear to replace with quieter fans (brown colored ones)

- Some TP-Link models the fans are not under s/w control, and just run full speed all the time, even if not needed

- Fans are a moving part that will fail one day

I have a fanless SG2428LP and worked fine for me for PoE+ APs etc. Runs warm, not hot.
