Additional Antennas for Deco X50-5G Mesh Wi-Fi 6 + 5G/4G/3G Router
Additional Antennas for Deco X50-5G Mesh Wi-Fi 6 + 5G/4G/3G Router
I am new to this Community and new to DECO.
My Deco X50-5G is working just fine but I am having a sporadic loss of signal.
I have no idea what the root cause is.
ISP, obstructions, atmospherics etc.
In order to eliminate signal loss as much as possible, I have been looking around at additional Antennas to attache to the base unit.
The unit has 2 Antenna ports.
Can you advise what my available options are ?

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you are experiencing sporadic signal loss with your Deco X50-5G and are considering adding external antennas to improve your 4G/5G signal strength. Let me guide you through your available options for connecting external antennas to your Deco unit.
Important Note: Deco 4G/5G models (including Deco X50-5G) support the installation of external antennas to enhance 4G/5G signal reception. Here’s how you can proceed:
1. Before purchasing external antennas:
• Network Compatibility: Make sure the antenna you choose supports the same network types (3G/4G/5G) and frequency bands as your Deco X50-5G. You can find the supported bands on the official Deco X50-5G specifications page: https://www.tp-link.com/en/home-networking/deco/deco-x50-5g/#specifications
• Connector Type: Check that the antenna connector (such as SMA-F, RP-SMA-F, SMB, etc.) matches your Deco’s antenna ports. The Deco X50-5G has two antenna ports, so you’ll need an antenna (or a pair) with compatible connectors.
• Information Source: Antenna details can be obtained from your antenna provider. For Deco’s supported network types, bands, and interface, refer to the official specification page linked above.
2. Installing the antennas:
• Router Mode: Ensure your Deco X50-5G is operating in 4G/5G Router mode.
• Physical Installation: Attach the external antennas securely to the main Deco unit’s antenna ports.
• Enable in App: Open the Deco app, go to MORE > External Antennas, and enable the external antennas.
Note: TP-Link does not provide specific antenna recommendations. You can find suitable antennas for your Deco model on third-party platforms. Just make sure they meet the compatibility requirements mentioned above.
If you need further assistance, feel free to provide more details or contact TP-Link support.
