Figuring out the deco system

Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

So I have the deco system, I have one plugged into the sky router, then my other 2 spread around the house, so I had it on its own network to begin with, I've just changed it over to AP setting,  but it still its own network tbag you have to connect to, should I delete everything and start again? Or is it an access point for my sky internet but with a different WiFi name,

my next question is, I have one off the decos in my sons room, and I have put an Ethernet cable in this one into the Xbox, will that ensure a better connection to the Xbox? (It doesn't have a wire from another deco to it)

my next question is, if I can get an Ethernet cable from one deco (the one plugged into the router) into one up stairs, will the one up stairs have faster internet because it's plugged into the one that is in the router?

and one more question, the more decos I have, will it be better access speeds ?

Thanks for reaching out! I understand you have set up your Deco Mesh system with one unit connected to your Sky router and two others placed around your house. You initially had the Deco system running in router mode on its own network, but have now switched it to Access Point (AP) mode. You're wondering if you need to reset everything, and also have questions about Ethernet connections and performance.

About AP Mode:
When you switch your Deco system to AP mode, it acts as an access point for your Sky router's internet, but it will still broadcast its own Wi-Fi network name (SSID) unless you manually set the same SSID and password as your Sky router. You do not need to delete everything and start again unless you want to change the network name or settings. The Deco units will extend your Sky internet, but devices will connect to the Deco Wi-Fi network.

Ethernet Connection to Xbox:
Connecting your son's Xbox to a Deco unit via Ethernet will generally provide a more stable and faster connection compared to Wi-Fi, even if the Deco unit itself is connected wirelessly to the main Deco. However, for optimal speed, connecting the upstairs Deco to the main Deco via Ethernet (wired backhaul) is recommended, as this reduces wireless interference and maximizes bandwidth.

Wired Backhaul:
If you run an Ethernet cable from the Deco connected to your Sky router to the upstairs Deco, the upstairs unit will have a faster and more reliable internet connection. Wired backhaul is always preferable for best performance.

Adding More Deco Units:
Adding more Deco units can improve coverage and potentially access speeds, especially in larger homes or areas with Wi-Fi dead spots. However, the overall speed also depends on your internet plan and how the Deco units are connected (wired vs wireless).

Note: If you already have a Deco system running and want to create another network, you can do so in the Deco app by clicking the "+" at the top right corner.
