Make sure that you have the latest FW update on your RE. You can get the latest FW release from here.

Configure your TP-Link WA850RE Wi-Fi extender iusing one of three methods: the WPS button, the TP-Link Tether app, or the Web GUI.
 
Method 1: The WPS Button (Easiest)
  1. Plug the extender into an electrical outlet near your main Wi-Fi router.
  2. Wait for the power LED to turn solid blue.
  3. Press the WPS button on your main router.
  4. Immediately press and hold the large circular RE (Range Extender) button on the front of your extender for 1 second.
  5. The RE LED will blink for up to 2 minutes. Once the connection is successful, it will turn solid blue.
Method 2: The TP-Link Tether App (Smartphone)
  1. Download the free TP-Link Tether App (available on iOS and Google Play).
  2. Plug your extender into an outlet near your router and turn it on.
  3. Go to your phone's Wi-Fi settings and connect to the temporary network named TP-Link_Extender.
  4. Open the Tether app, follow the on-screen prompts, and select your home Wi-Fi network to extend.
Method 3: Web Browser (PC/Laptop)
  1. Plug the extender into an outlet near your router and turn it on.
  2. Connect your computer to the extender using an Ethernet cable OR via Wi-Fi by connecting to the TP-Link_Extender network.
  3. Open a web browser and enter http://tplinkrepeater.net or 192.168.0.254 in the address bar.
  4. Create an administrator password to log in.
  5. Follow the step-by-step Quick Setup wizard to scan for your home Wi-Fi and input your existing Wi-Fi password.
Relocating the Extender
Once configured, unplug the extender and move it to a location roughly halfway between your main router and the Wi-Fi "dead zone". Use the circular LED lights on the front of the extender to find the best spot. You should aim for at least 3 solid blue bars for a strong connection.
