No, only one OneMesh™ router can be used as a root access point in a OneMesh™ network. 

 

Q3: What is the difference between OneMesh™ vs having the same SSID, I get one network name either way?

 

OneMesh™ provides true seamless roaming by utilizing wireless protocols so you do not drop any connections as you move from one node to another. Having a non-mesh network means your device will need to drop the connection as it connects from your router to the range extender and vice versa. You may also experience issues such as a device continuing to stay connected to a network device even though it is physically closer to another one. With OneMesh™, your network will recommend your client device to connect to the best network device in order to have the best performance.

 

Q4: Do my extenders connect to the router only or to each other?

 

When you set up the OneMesh™ range extenders, it will pair preferably with the router, but may also choose another extender if that is a better connection.

I just added a TP Link R300 as a OneMesh device to my TP Link AC1750 A7 router and I noticed videos would pause and buffer several times throughout my watching, what can I do to fix that? The device I replaced with the R300 was a different brand setup as a wifi extender and connected to it the videos would play smooth throughout.

Make sure the Archer A7 has the latest firmware, and OneMesh is configured for your network. Make sure the signal light of the RE300 is solid white, if it turns red then it is too far from the router.

Quiero reemplazar mis actuales routers, donde el pimero que se encuentra en la planta superior de mi casa, y esta configurado como router. En la plata baja de la casa, se encuentra otro configurado como AP. Ambos estan conectados mediante cable de ethernet. Si coloco un Archer C6 en modo router en la plata superior de mi casa y otro Archer C6 pero como AP conectados mediante cable ethernet en la planta baja,  podre utilizar el OneMesh activandolo en ambos? O solo funcionaria con Archer C6 y un extender compatible? Si fuera asi, el extender se puede configurar como AP conectado a travez de cable de ethernet en vez de que tome la señal wifi? Se comprende?. Y la otra pregunta es, si el Archer C6, activando el OneMesh, permite configurar rutas estaticas, ya que en otra casa tengo instalados los deco m4 y no permite configurar rutas estaticas. Que gran error en tan gran producto no poder configurar una simple ruta estatica. Gracias y espero puedan ayudarme con estas dudas. Saludos.

 

 

 

 

Are other router models expected to have firmware upgrades to make them OneMesh capable?  I have an archer c8 V1 and would like to buy an extender to create a mesh network.

The Archer C8 is not listed, and it does not appear that there is firmware that will be available for it making it OneMesh compatible.

I just bought an Archer C7 V5 and it doesn't show up as OneMesh when I try to connect my RE305 to it. It's updated to the latest firmware.

 

Firmware Version: 1.0.11 Build 20190726 rel.57101(5553)

Hardware Version: Archer C7 v5.0

 

When I go to the OneMesh page of my router's admin, it says "No OneMesh device to work with this mesh router."

 

How do I activate OneMesh to work? Thanks!

Look at the RE305's hardware version it needs to be version 3. You can find that on the box where the serial number is or by logging into the extender. If you have any previous hardware version it will not work with OneMesh. If you have hardware version 1 or 2 do not upgrade the firmware meant for version 3, you will brick the extender. Only if you have version 3 can you then upgrade the firmware shown here: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/re305/#Firmware

Will there be a OneMesh firmware update to the Archer C5400X? I've moved and I need to redo wifi as everything is taking a hit now. I would rather go with a mesh setup instead of an extender.

It does not look like there is one coming out for the C5400X.

I have a WPA8730 powerline adapter.  With the 8630 series on the OneMesh compatibility list, will the 8730 series be considered as well?
