Model: TL-R600VPN
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 4.0.3

Hi.

I have a network with one TL-ER6020 V2 at main site and 5 TL-R600VPN at remote sites. Its is L2TP VPN network where the main site (ER6020) is the server and the remote sites (R600VPN) are client.

When I started to configure this network the first 2 remote sites worked fine (and still working untill now). But when I instaled the 3th remote site, the R600VPN starts to reboot after some (random) minutes of use. I enabled the log server in order to get some clue of what is happening but see nothing wrong. None debug message was sent out from the system.

My question is if there is a way to get some more accurate information of what is happening (like a log file) in order to solve this problem. Have anyone face such problem?

I allready tested the other 3 sites  (with 3 different R600VPN routers) and the problem is the same.

Any help at this issue will appreciated.

Regards,

Marcelo

Did not hear about that the router will reboot automatically when connect to VPN. You can check if your R600VPN uses the latest firmware and all 5 routers use the same settings.

Hi Andone

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, all R600VPN are using the same firmware version: 4.0.3 Build 20180530 Rel.63202.

I already tested the version 4.0.3 Build 20190227 Rel.48206 but the results where the same.

Actually the router reboots after some time connected. The first reboot happen about 30 minutes of the VPN connection. I´m investigating what could be happen. Maybe some related to DHCP or Netbios as I could not reproduce the problem at my lab where I have less equipment connected to the router. In my lab I have one of those problematic routers running 7 days whiout reboots. The same router, with the same configuration, shown the problem at the remote site.
I already check the Internet connection and AC power at the remote sites and are ok.

Maybe be important to say is that reboot behavior is acctualy like a hang. The router system LED stops to blink and after some secconds the router reboots, maybe by an watch-dog action....

I keep doing tests but I hope have more debug tools in order to be more acertive and find the solution.

Best Regards,

Marcelo

Did not hear about that TP-Link has the watch-dog on their router. If confrim that the router will reboot automatically, I think you can try to get the replacement and check again.

Hi Androne

I don´t believe that this issue is hardware related. Today I´m running the same router at my lab with almost the same number of machine connected to its network running for 3 days without any problem. The only difference is the ISP.

I hope that someone from TPlink could share some debug tools in order to figure out what is happening.

Do you know how can I connect to the TP-LINK command line ? Maybe over an telnet connection?
I already try to open a telnet section at the router IP but get no answer.

Regards,

Marcelo

As I know, TP-Link router doesn't support telnet.

And generally we can see the router freeze, but hardly to see the router reboot automatically unless has the rebooting schedule.
