I'm using the Three network. I've been trying this firmware, and my router will only ever connect to one 3 band. Looking at cellmapper, I should be able to get 1 & 20 from nearby towers as well, but these don't connect at all. Also, my router never shows "3,3" if I choose 3 for both, it just shows "3". Presumably this means that 4G+ isn't working and it's just using one band? Do I need to do anything in particular to make carrier aggregation work?

@darant I'm not sure if the MR600 router is compatible with Three UK 4G+

@davidc01 My ee sim does pick up the dual bands but always 3,3.. I have 2 cells near me, no matter what I select, its always 3,3..

Yes, I did see that thread, but as I understand it, Three 4G+ would support 3,3 or 3,20 now, even if the router itself doesn't support 1,3. Towers around me provide 1,3 & 20 from Three, but I only ever see a single channel 3 in the router (never 3,3 or 3,20) no matter what I select.

hi guys,

is anyone of you having the same experience with the beta-fw that the mr600 doesnt keep the selected bands? i have set mine to 3,20 but on some days it says 3,3. its not a big deal for me but im wondering why. could it be possible that my provider or the broadcasting mast is sending information that only this band is available at the moment?

@kLumpat So far my bands have been rock solid on '1,20'.  Have you checked the logs to see if there is anything happening that might point you in the right direction?

@kLumpat yes I mentioned this issue in this thread last week, the explanation seems to be more

to do with how the cell towers work than the beta software being at fault.

Looking forward to getting the final software released as there are a few bugs here and there outside of band selection such as sometimes being unable to see messages.

Wow, I have learnt loads from this thread. You lot really know your stuff.

I am currently using a very old Huawei B593s-22 router for my 4G. It's been a lifesaver given my rural ADSL was about 1Mbps. I currently get about 25Mbps up and down from Three which runs everything well and has been invaluable in lockdown. The Poynting antenna helps.

I use Three because they haven't implemented CGNAT like Vodafone and EE. Online P2P gaming doesn't like CGNAT so I am stuck with Three for the foreseeable. I know I could get faster speeds from other providers (and Cellmapper confirms that would be the case).

Over the years I have tried more modern routers.... recently the ZyXEL LTE3301-Plus and Huawei B535.... but none performed as well as the B593. Unfortunately, my router and the others didn't allow me to scrutinise and select 4G bands.

I recognise from other threads that I won't get 4G+ with the MR600. But with this new firmware and because I can try/return the product from Amazon, I am thinking of giving the MR600 a go (and it should play nicely with my EAP-225 APs). I hadn't spotted until now that TP-Link offered a router with external aerial support.

So I am wondering, based on my scenario, do you think I should try the MR600?

Thanks everyone.
