I have been able to test this week, strangely I had internet access this time around. One thing I couldn't see is to send all traffic through the vpn instead of local traffic, is it possible to edit the server config file to include redirect-gateway?

I connected to the OpenVPN server with my laptop.

Execute "route print" command and you will find the route tables.

I found that two routes were added, one is 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 go via OpenVPN Interface;

the second is 192.168.10.0 mask 255.255.255.0 go via OpenVPN Interface;

But 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 go via my ethernet adapter has a higher priority, so all the Internet requests are going from the Internet rather than the VPN.

@Fae it was brought to my attention by an TP-representative from the Netherlands, this problem might be solved in Omada 4.3. together with firmware upgrades for the omada hardware.

When will this version be available to the public?

@joeri1 and @Fae

Earlier this week I got my hands on firmware version 1.0.1 Build 20210113 Rel.35074 for my TL-R605 v1.0

This didn't fix the VPN issue.

Yesterday I upgraded my software controller from version 4.2.8 to version 4.2.11

This also didn't fix the VPN issue.

Hi Gyus,

I have configure openvpn server and clients has 192.168.80.0/24

I think problem is with DNS resolving,

I can ping 8.8.8.8

C:\Users\peter>ping 8.8.8.8

Pinging 8.8.8.8 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 8.8.8.8: bytes=32 time=10ms TTL=118
Reply from 8.8.8.8: bytes=32 time=10ms TTL=118

but I can not ping www.sme.sk because following:

Users\peter>nslookup wwww.sme.sk
DNS request timed out.
    timeout was 2 seconds.
Server:  UnKnown
Address:  192.168.80.1

DNS request timed out.
    timeout was 2 seconds.

    timeout was 2 seconds.
DNS request timed out.
    timeout was 2 seconds.
DNS request timed out.
    timeout was 2 seconds.
*** Request to UnKnown timed-out

my ipconfig :

IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.80.6(Preferred)
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.252
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
   DHCPv6 IAID . . . . . . . . . . . : 318832596
   DHCPv6 Client DUID. . . . . . . . : 00-01-00-01-26-68-C7-1F-5C-80-B6-F8-1E-2F
   DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.80.1

                                       8.8.8.8

my question is why TPLINK configure DNS like this?

why there is no possibilty to configure dns by myself?

And why default second DNS is 8.8.8.8?

ANY answer from TPLINK?

@pcan, it seems like a DNS problem at my end as well. When connect to the VPN I can ping IP addressess on the internet. However it seems it cannot resolve them over DNS. Really weird that you cannot give up any DNS settings in OpenVPN settings at the omada openvpn configuration page. I have also tried to alter the OpenVPN file to use my own DNS servers. However I didn't succeed in doing that.
