Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20210723 Rel.64359

Hi everyone,

I need a clarification about the behaviour of ER7206.

THis is my configuration:

WAN Port: Starlink

WAN/LAN1 Port: Vodafone

Load Balacing Enabled

Link Backup Rule:

WAN Primary, WAN/LAN1 Backup

Mode: Backup when any primary WAN fails

Online Detection: Automatic

When WAN port (Primary) with Starlink is connected but the service is not available, ER7206 don't switch to WAN/LAN1 as backup

Checking "Port Status" I can see OFFLINE on WAN and this is fine because is unable to ping and ONLINE on WAN/LAN1 and this is fine because Vodafone is up and running but if I check "Connection Status" both ports are online, I presume because this means that both are physically connected.

Is a wrong assumption that the connection should switch to WAN/LAN1 as backup when primary WAN is connected but unable to ping ?

Where is the error ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi  @Stefano_Bettini

Looks like similar issue as I reported here: https://community.tp-link.com/en/business/forum/topic/519916

@Stefano_Bettini I am having a similar problem. IN addition, when one ISP drops, switchover does not take place and I have to disconnect and reconnect the cables for the traffic to start....

Dear @Stefano_Bettini ,

To better help you, could you please provide some screenshots to show your settings and this issue?

You can also try to change the detection's mode to Manual, type in 8.8.8.8 in the Ping and DNS to test.

Before you set it, you can try to Ping 8.8.8.8 to check whether you can ping through.

Dear @Learn2network

Did you enable the Load balancing, because the link backup will be effective based on this function active.

Could you please provide some screenshots to show your settings and this issue?
