Hi Philbert, Yes, its AWG. That is what I was initially thinking. If they cables are longer than 100 meters, POE will not always work. I can try that. Have an old Cisco with POE that I can quickly put there to test.

The cost has to kept down as much as possible because as I mentioned, they got financially raped by the previous person. They have purchased the RB2011iL-RM.., 300 euro. The HP switch, is just noted as HP with a price of 300. They have a PC as a controller, 600 euro.., don’t want to go too much into details, “installation of the server, network maintenance, network monitoring, separated rooms, installation takes one full day 48 hours by 2 technicians (cabling is from a different planet) you might understand how it was… So it's better if we can keep the injectors etc. If I let him purchase the goods you mentioned, it will cost him around 1400 (with the 235). The installation will be done by me, so will get a few to get familiar with them and will prepare them in my home office.

  @btx

Thanks for the reply.

The mikrotik has an issue, as it gets random calls from the tenants that there’s no internet. He has to manually switch off the Mikrotik. (Remove the power cable, otherwise it doesn’t respond.)

This means that it has to be either replaced or fixed. (It would be easier just to purchase) since the device has one year warranty, and a new device would be that expensive.

Some apartments will need a LAN port because they have desktops connected to the network, and the EAP115 are coming “behind” where their TV’s are. I think in this case, the EAP235-wall.

Theoretically what they want is to have stable internet in the apartments, with separated networks and a possibility to offer 3 packages of internet speed.

They initially had not a real budget, but after a talk with them, they would prefer not to exceed the 1500 euros mark. (if its over a bit, they don’t mind, but not 100+). They want to have it work well for now because it was never working as they agreed.

The 115 itself was 120 euro (excl VAT), just to put the screw was 25 euro. Makes a total of 145 ex VAT. (Configuration per device was put at 2 hours, configuring the Mikrotik was put as 3 full days of work)

(sorry, its 14 apartments, not 12)

I could do the job with 14x EAP235, the HP 24port HP switch (unmanaged), and the router for the vlans?

  @ArjanKS it looks like you might benefit from this solution.

https://cusna.io

Instead of creatign an individual SSID for each apartment, you can creare a single SSID and use PPSK access with a different VLAN for each user.

Cusna, automates all the resident service provisioning (scheduled activation/termination), with autoatmic VLAN assignment to segregate the traffic and offer optional integrated bulling module.

Residents can also change their own PSK form the resident portal, for additional security and reduced support on your end.

  @Philbert

It seems he will upgrade in the near future, but not for now.

In the meantime, I have purchased a controller and the 605 for myself to play with.  But already have a question. So now I have the controller and the 605, both working. The controller gives me via port 1 internet to a "non manageable switch", so the rest of the computers here get an Ip and it all works.

Right now, I am trying to make a vlan (create two of them 192.168.20.X & 192.168.30.X

I just have an old switch (1016, 10/100 for testing) on port one of the 605. and want to put my wireless on port2 (with a different IP range). It seems that doesnt work? Or do you know where I should look? (or do I have to purchase a manage omada swtich If yes, does the T1500G-8T the job?)

  @ArjanKS If you aren't using an Omada gateway you need to create the VLANs and the networks on your router/firewall and just match the VLAN ID in your wireless configs.  You shouldn't need managed switches in this case.

@ArjanKS The controller is a tool for managing the Omada components you have installed.  If you don't have those components, the settings in it do nothing.

However, that doesn't mean you need to buy those components to achieve your goal.

You are trying to break your network into multiple subnets.  This is generally done first on your router/firewall/gateway.  What hardware are you using for that?(Sorry if this was mentioned somewhere else in the thread already, it is a winding road to get to the present day).

EDIT: It looks like you were planning to use an ER605 at one point.  Did you end up going that route?
