Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.0.0

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with setting up er605 as second router in my network.

First of all, I have model/WIFI router from my ISP that I want to leave as gateway/first machine. It is 192.168.0.1 gateway with DHCP enabled.

I set up ER605 on LAN port to have 192.168.0.2 IP address and disable DHCP server. Connected LAN to LAN from my ISP router to TPlink, and I can see it from my network and devices connected to ER605 got their IP and can use internet.

But ER605 seems  to have no Internet connection, as I cannot update time in system tools tab and it seems that I cannot user VPN server? How can I configure that?

 Ok, I tried different approach.

Connected main ISP modem/router LAN port to ER605 WAN port and set it up to static 192.168.0.2 (gateway is 192.168.0.1) and also set primary DNS as my pihole (192.168.0.222)

Lan ports set up to start from 192.168.1.1 and with DHCP server enable for 1.x subnet.

VPN is now working fine (it seems that I can access machines in both subnets). Also it seems that machines connected to LAN on ER605 (with 1.x subnet IP) can see somehow my server in 0.x subnet.

Might it be because of my DNS server?

//edit disabled pihole and still could ping/connect from machine in 192.168.1.X subnet to machine in 192.168.0.X subnet

  @Wuch I have a simular setup, I have a router/firewall connected to my cable modem, I have a static route from my firewall with DHCP turned off to my ER605 I have DHCP on the ER605 with 2 different VLANS, I have one vlan  with the DNS as my pihole, the second vlan as 8.8.8.8, both lans can get on line but cant see eachother. Now when I access my network through my VPN I can only access one vlan also, my pihole will block ads through my vpn...( my second vlan is for my Nest, my security cams...that does not need the pihole)

  @Wuch

the problem here is, that you MUST have different subnets on both sides of the ER605 router. Because it is a NAT-router and therefore translates all IP addresses from its LAN side to one single IP address on the WAN side.

Therefore you can only reach devices on the WAN side from the router from its LAN, but not the other way around.

it is currently impossible to disable NAT of the ER605 and ER7206. But you could open a feature request because there are multiple people with the same kind of request.
