Model: ER7212PC
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

I am struggling to migrate my site that is hosted on an OC200 to my new ER7212Pc. Seems the omada controller version is different on both. I can not find an option upgrade the ER7212 to the same.

Any ideas?

  @Djw1973 This is likely yet an other issue with the roll-out of this product.  The Omada SDN updates for the hardware controllers OC200/300, are firmware updates, so likely that needs to be a firmware update to the ER7212PC every time Omada is updated.  This is an issue that @Hank21 needs to address with the router R&D team.

  @peter021 Sorry no, the only TPLink employees that regularly post here are Fae and Hank.

  @Djw1973 Beware of ER7212PC devices limit which is 10x less than OC200.

Here is the proposition to increase the numbers https://community.tp-link.com/en/business/forum/topic/608302

  @folfix OC200 has some issues, it will self upgrade but doesn't like cross platform upgrades.

Yesterday I moved my OC200 to 5.9.32 from 5.7.6.  I then made a backup with the intent of moving that controller to a 5.9.31 Linux based controller.  I was unable to move it and I tried a few combinations of Settings only, or Settings plus historical data.

In the end, I wound up backing up each site to its own backup file and then migrating each site to the new Linux controller one by one.  This worked  but I lost the history.

Have you tried a site migration approach?

  @Djw1973

Give it shot....my migration is up and running just fine.  It does keep the same device/password.  I literally made a DHCP reservation for the IP of the new controller.  Powered down the OC200, powered up my LePotato Linux controller...and it took over and was up and running in 5min.

  @Djw1973

Hello there!

In a corporate environment, should I dare to migrate an OC200 controller with an ER7212PC?

I want to bring the same site over, just replace the OC200 if I already have a 3in1 device.
Or can I disable the controller functionality in the ER7212 and just use it as a router and VPN provider alongside the OC200?
What do you suggest? How should I start or not start it?
