Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.1.2 Build 20230210 Rel.62992

I upgraded to 2.1.2 Build 20230210 Rel.62992 on my standalone ER605 V2 yesterday. My wife's phone, a Motorola One 5G Ace started requesting IP address every few seconds. It will request an IP around 16 times, stop, then a few minutes later it starts again. I noticed it yesterday, and reset her WiFi network settings, which seemed to stop it, but then it started again this morning.

DHCP Server allocated IP address 192.168.0.100 for the client[MAC: Xx:XX:Xx:xX:xX:xX].

She is near the access point, and has an excellent signal. So, she is not dropping WiFi.

This was not happening with 2.1.1.

Thanks!

  @Fae

Got the email and replied describing the issue and what I have done to try and fix it.

I ended up setting a static IP on the phone, so it's not constantly asking for an IP.

Thank you!

This morning I looked at the log, and a TP-Link HS105 Smart Plug is now asking for an IP multiple times in a row. Two groups of five requests, each request about a minute apart. I am in a crowded 2.4ghz area, and it's around -50db where the plug is located.

Edit: Looking up this issue specific to the TP-Link HS105 Smart Plug, it seems to be a common issue.....repeatedly asking for an IP and then settling down.

  @Hemicrusher @Fae

I have the same issue. "DHCP Server allocated IP address..." for some devices in my network every 2 minutes (one device is actually another TP-Link Archer router).

Running on latest firmware.

Is there any way to solve it?

PS. Actually this device is using static IP address, yet ER605 keeps assigning it address from DHCP every 2 minutes or so.

This is not an issue or bug. No need to panic and hope you can take a second to read and understand the controller's new features and its system.

If you take a look at the log settings, you will understand. Turn off the DHCP log. Simple that is.

The Help Center(question mark on the UI) or the User Guide explains things in a pretty clear way.
